I love idioms ♥ lets learn some together :D

Hello everyone..today my lovely teacher gave me a book that includes all about idioms called "Everyday Idioms with stories" by Casy Malarcher
I can say that idioms are really interesting to know and to learn ,it could be important and useful sometimes, moreover it might not give a clear meaning to the reader, but pretty successful expression. at this moment i'm going to present some examples of what i have learnt  ^_^

Bring up= start to talk about something
Ex:I hate to bring this up, but you have some food between you'r teeth

By all means=said to encourage a person to do something
Ex: A: Could i borrow you'r pen?
    B: by all means

Carry on= continue
Ex: After the storm passed, we carried on painting the house

Fix up= repair; make nice or good again
Ex: It would cost more to fix up this old boat than to buy a new one

High time= time for some action that has been postponed too long
Ex:I think it's high time we fix the heater .I'm freezing

Lose one's temper= become angry
Ex:He lost his temper and hit the table by his fist

Wrap up= finish, bring to an end
Ex:  A: it's almost lunch time
B: OK. let's wrap up and go out to eat

Come across= find by chance
Ex: I came across some old photographs at my parent's house

On the whole= in general; all things considered
Ex: On the whole, i enjoyed my time in U.S

Wait on= serve someone in a restaurant
Ex:The man who waited on us last night had a french accent

Set out= Leave; begin a journey
Ex:He set out for the market early in the morning

And that's all
I hope you all get benefited
